1. The glycolipids of urine sediments of a female patient suffering from angiokeratoma corporis diffusum Fabry and of two normal persons were analysed on thin layer chromatography.

2. A glycolipid, Globosid I, with a terminal N-acetyl-D-galactosamine is found in both cell types; it reacts poorly, if at all, with an agglutinin anti-AHP from Helix pomatia, which, according to present knowledge, should react with this terminal hexosamine.

In beiden Zellarten kommt ein Glykolipoid, Globosid I mit terminalem N-Acetyl-D-Galaktosamin vor, welches schlecht oder gar nicht mit dem Agglutinin Anti-AHP aus Helix pomatia reagiert, obwohl dieses erwartungsgemäß das terminale Hexosamin erfassen sollte.

In the X-linked angiokeratoma corporis diffusum universale (Fabry) the glycolipids trihexosyl-ceramide (galactosyl-galactosyl-glucosyl-ceramide) and dihexosyl-ceramide (galactosyl-galactosyl-ceramide) are deposited mainly in the following cells and tissues: the autonomous neurons of the diencephalon and brain stem; the pituitary gland; the mesenteric and submucosal plexus of the gastrointestinal tract; the heart muscle; the vascular smooth muscles; the visceral organs (renal tubules and glomeruli).

Bei dem X-chromosomal vererbten Angiokeratoma corporis diffusum universale (Fabry) findet sich eine Ablagerung der Glykolipide Trihexosylceramid (Galaktosyl-galaktosyl-glucosyl-ceramid) und Dihexosylceramid (Galaktosyl-galaktosyl-ceramid) hauptsächlich in folgenden Zellen und Körpergeweben: autonome Ganglienzellen des Zwischenhirns und Hirnstamms; Hypophyse; Plexus myentericus und submucosus von Magen und Darm; Herzmuskulatur; glatte Muskulatur der Gefäße; viscerale Organe (Nierentubuli und -glomeruli).
